A historical survey of events and developments leading to the atomic theory will be given. Then classical Bohr atom in terms of old quantum mechanics will be seen. After a brief discussions of fundamental concepts of quantum mechanics, modern atomic theory in terms of Schrodinger and Heisenberg formalism will be introduced.
