This course is specifically designed for planners and architects to provide them with the knowledge regarding the principles of organization of urban structure. It demonstrates the interplay between the urban mass and its surrounding urban environment from individual building to the city as a whole. The course aims at introducing the basics about the assumptions, concerns, roles and duties, approaches and tools that define the work contexts of urban planning and urban design. Underlining these basics with the examples and cases from abroad and Turkey, the first and the second part of the course focuses on respectively urban planning and urban design.
