Geographic Information Systems (GIS) plays an important and critical role in the field of urban planning in current planning practice. This course introduces the concepts and components of GIS and provide the students with a solid base in working with GIS, the course focuses on basic principles of cartography and spatial thinking. The lectures and practical exercises cover fundamental cartographic concepts, as well as concepts of state-of-the-art GIS technologies. The course emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach on spatial decision-making and problem solving.
